chakra sounds meditation
This Meditation uses vocal sounds made by the meditator along with music to open and harmonize the chakras while bringing awareness to them. Through this meditation you can experience a deep, peaceful inner silence either by making your own vocal sounds or by just listening to and feeling the sounds that are on the meditation CD. You can do this meditation at any time.

These indications of the chakras are just guidelines. Discover the exact location of each chakra in your own body. The chakras are three-dimensional and are located in the center of the body and towards the spine.

1st Stage: 45 minutes SOUNDS
Stand, sit or lie down if you prefer. Keep your back straight and your body loose and comfortable. Breathe into your belly rather than your chest.

With eyes closed, listen to the music, and start making sounds in the first chakra. The sounds should be made with your mouth open and your jaw loose (keep your mouth open the whole time). You can use a single tone sound or vary the tone. You can follow the music or make your own sounds. Bring your awareness into the chakra you are making the sounds into and feel the sounds pulsating in that chakra. It is helpful to imagine the location of the chakras at first. You will become aware of the feelings and sensations of each chakra with time and practice.

After making sounds in the first chakra you will hear the tone on the CD change. This is an indication to move to the second chakra, and either just listen to the sounds there or make your own sounds. Continue changing tones as you move up from chakra to chakra. You will notice that as you move to higher chakras your sounds will become higher in pitch.

After making sounds in the seventh chakra, you will hear three bells. This is the signal to let your sounds and awareness descend back down through each chakra one at a time. As you hear the tones go down, listen and make sounds in each chakra. Feel the inside of your body becoming hollow like a bamboo flute. Allow the sounds to resonate from the top of your head down into the base of your spine. At the end of the first sequence you will hear a pause before starting the next sequence.  This upward and downward movement of sound will be repeated three times for a total of 45 minutes.

Continue witnessing whatever may arise while you are making the sounds.

2nd Stage: 15 minutes SILENCE
After the last sound sequence, sit or lie down with closed eyes and be still and silent. Continue to witness whatever is happening inside and outside without any judgment.

You can practice this meditation alone or in a group.
